Body-jet® uses a powerful spray of water to dislodge or breakup the fat, which is then sucked out. This is done by means of a special needle, which has 2 channels, one for spraying the water jet and the other for sucking out the fat. The surgeon simply inserts this special needle in the area of excess fat and connects the needle to the Body-jet® machine, which generates the water jet and the vacuum for suctioning. Therefore it is also called as Water-jet Assisted Liposuction or WAL in short. It literally washes your excess body fat away!
>> Virtually pain free: Prior to liposuction a special fluid containing local anesthetic agent (tumescent fluid) is injected in the area being treated. Other liposuction technique uses a simple needle to inject this fluid. However with Body-jet® the power spray method of injecting allows the fluid and the local anesthetic to permeate every nook and corner of the area being treated. This numbs the area so effectively that most liposuction can be carried out without you being put to sleep (general anesthesia), which in turn makes your recovery smoother and shorter. Also post-liposuction you are virtually pain free compared to other methods of liposuction where the pain can take few weeks or more to subside.
>> Accurate contouring: Body-jet® is the only machine, which allows simultaneous spraying of tumescent fluid and suctioning of the fat. So the surgeon can watch the fat literally dissolve in front of his eyes and thus allowing him to accurately contour the area being treated.
>> You will feel less bloated: In other methods of liposuction, particularly ultrasonic (vaser) liposuction lot of tumescent fluid needs to be injected prior to liposuction. Surgeon also has to wait for 10 minutes or so prior to commencing liposuction. This can leave the patient feel swollen and bloated. However with Body-jet® the simultaneous spraying of tumescent fluid and fat suctioning doesn’t allow the tumescent fluid to linger on in your body. Consequently you feel less swollen and bloated.
>> One of the safest technique: Ultrasonic (Vaser) and machine uses a needle vibrating at very high speed to dislodge the fat. This high-speed vibration can generate heat and rarely burn the overlying skin. Laser Liposuction also uses heat to dissolve fat with its attendant risk. Contrast this with Body-jet® machine, which uses spray of water to dislodge the fat in the gentlest way! No heat whatsoever is generated by this machine and therefore is the safest and gentlest as well as effective liposuction technique around.
>> Liposculture : There is a bonus of using this gentle liposuction technique. The fat that is harvested with Body-jet® has mostly living cells. This can be injected elsewhere in your own body, for instance to increase the size of breast or improving the projection of the buttocks. In addition the harvested fat need not be processed and can be directly injected, therefore saving valuable anesthesia time. Ultrasonic and laser liposuction machine uses heat to dissolve the fat, which obviously kills the fat cells and so the harvested fat is not suitable to be injected elsewhere. To summarize, in your quest for ideal body contour, Body-jet® gets you there with minimal discomfort and with added bonus of adding fat in areas where enhancement is desired. The first figure shows the fat as yellow colour and light blue is the water jet being injected in the fat. The dark blue and red trees like structure are the blood vessels and the nerve. In the 2nd figure see how the water jet separates and dislodges the fat, which is then sucked out in the 3rd figure. In the last figure you can see the fat has been sucked out but the blood vessels and the nerves are left intact.
